57-year star - who was nominated as best supporting actress 25 years ago, for his role in "The Color Purple" - Jean Hersholt Humanitarian award.
The award was given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 1956. Several previous award recipients are Bob Hope, Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman and Jerry Lewis.
